Chase Madison (Kentucky) – Men’s Discus
“The wind conditions were not ideal today. But overall, there was great competition, and everyone stepped up and did a great job. I have been working heavily on the mental part of the event instead of the physical part, so I’m thankful that preparation helped me out today.”

Brittney Reese (Ole Miss) – Women’s Long Jump
“I feel pretty good. I didn’t do as well as I had thought I would, but it was good weather today. I think I did pretty well for it to be like this. It wasn’t too tough to run over to the high jump. I’m starting to get pretty used to it by now. It starts to get mentally tough.”

Alain Bailey (Arkansas) – Men’s Long Jump
“I did pretty well, I had a personal best. I won the indoor championship, and it feels good to follow it up with the outdoor championship.”

Raeven Harris (Auburn) – Women’s High Jump
“It went well today. I made some progress. In the past couple of weeks I haven’t been able to hold my lean and I ended up pulling it all together today. It feels good to be a champion. This is my first championship and it’s a good feeling.”

Annie Alexander (Tennessee) – Women’s Shot Put
“It was a good competition. I am excited and I’m happy I woke up for my last two throws. But it was tough and it was up for grabs. I came in and I wanted to win the competition, but I knew it was going to be a fight between Mariam (Kevkhishvili) and myself. Being an SEC champion for the second time feels good, especially being a freshman.”

Sarah Madebach (Georgia) – Women’s 3000m Steeplechase
“I feel like I ran well tonight. This was only my second steeplechase this year so I was a little bit nervous and I didn’t know what could happen. I feel really lucky to be able to come out here and get another championship on my last season. It’s a good feeling and a good way to end my years. It feels fantastic. Against all these ladies who are such great athletes, I feel honored to be competing with them. It feels great because I never thought I’d be able to get to this level from where I’ve come from. So, to be an SEC back-to-back champion is a big accomplishment for me and I’m excited.”

Barnabas Kirui (Ole Miss)– Men’s 3000m Steeplechase
“I’m impressed with how I did today. Practice has been tough for me lately because I am come off of an injury, but it was important for me to run through it and win. I am the defending outdoor champion so I’m glad I could make it two in a row.”
