COLLEGE STATION, Texas – South Carolina sophomore diver Taryn Zack scored a 269.50 in Thursday afternoon’s one-meter diving preliminaries, barely missing the consolation final with an 18th-place finish on the first day of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at Texas A&M University.

Zack had four successful dives out of her list of six, but missed on her second and fourth attempts to drop down the standings. She made a valiant comeback with solid numbers on her third, fifth and sixth dives, but finished just 1.05 points out of 16th place and points for South Carolina in the team standings.

The sophomore will make another attempt at scoring points Friday with the three-meter event. Preliminaries get underway at 1:30 p.m. Central time, and live results can be followed through aggieathletics.com or divemeets.com.
