COLUMBIA, S.C. – Declarations for the NCAA East Region Track and Field Championships have been announced with South Carolina qualifying 42 entries into the meet that will be held May 29-30 at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.
The women’s team qualified 20 entries between 16 athletes, in addition to the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The sixth-ranked men’s team qualified 20 entries between 15 athletes, in addition to both relays as well.
Athletes that earn top five finishes in their events automatically qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships that will be held June 10-13 in Fayetteville, Ark. South Carolina has eight athletes ranked in the top five in the region in their events, including Jason Richardson and Johnny Dutch who lead the region in the 110m- and 400m hurdles, respectively.
The following are the men’s and women’s NCAA East Region qualifiers. Those marked with an asterisk (*) did not declare for the East Region meet.
