COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina redshirt junior Mollie Patton picked up her first career national honor this week after being named to the Soccer America National Team of the Week for her play in goal last weekend.

Patton had one of her strongest weekends in goal to preserve a duo of shutout victories for South Carolina. With the shutouts, Patton leads the conference with four and moves to third on the South Carolina all-time list with 11 in her career. Thus far, she has opened the season with a 360:00 shutout streak and is tied for second in the nation with her four shutouts on the year.

She faced a season-high in shots and put up six saves against Louisville in Friday’s win before recording five in Sunday’s win against Cincinnati to win the tournament title. Against the Bearcats, Patton was faced with three 1v1 situations and came up big in each with point-blank saves on all three. She was named to the Cardinal Classic All-Tournament team after the match.
