The University of South Carolina football team is ranked 22nd in the nation in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY/Coaches’ polls released today.

The Gamecocks are 5-1 on the season, 2-1 and in sole possession of second place in the SEC Eastern Division. South Carolina received 319 points in the AP poll to move up from number 25. The Gamecocks received 279 points in the coaches’ poll, moving up five spots from 27th last week.

South Carolina will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face the Crimson Tide on Saturday in an ESPN 7:45 p.m. national broadcast. Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) is ranked second in the country by the AP and third in the nation according to the coaches.
