The University of South Carolina football team is ranked 23rd in the nation in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY/Coaches’ polls released today. The Gamecocks also check in at number 24 in the first Bowl Championship Series Standings released this afternoon.

The Gamecocks fell just one spot in both major polls despite dropping a 20-6 decision at Alabama on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide (7-0) is ranked first in this week’s Associated Press poll and second behind Florida in the USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Gamecocks are 5-2 on the season, 2-2 in the SEC. South Carolina received 159 points in the AP poll and 142 points in the coaches’ poll.

South Carolina will host SEC Eastern Division rival Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, October 24, at Willians-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be nationally televised on ESPNU.
