COLUMBIA, S.C. – Stephon Gilmore from the Gamecock football team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.
Gilmore had four tackles, including three solo stops, one tackle for loss and also recovered a fumble in the Gamecocks’ win over Clemson. The Gamecock defense held Clemson to 260 yards, 110 yards below their average.
Gilmore also was used for one possession as the quarterback in the “wildcat” formation and rushed five times for 20 yards and completed a 39-yard pass on his only attempt, setting up the Gamecocks’ first touchdown of the game. The scoring drive took seven plays, of which Gilmore figured in six, covering 60 yards.
