COLUMBIA, S.C. – After a seven-week break from competition, South Carolina’s swimming and diving team is set to return to action Saturday afternoon with a dual meet at the College of Charleston. The diving portion of the meet gets underway at 11 a.m. with swimming set for a 2 p.m. start at the Stern Student Center.

The Gamecock men enter the meet at 1-4 overall with the Carolina women winless in several close meets. The Cougar men are 1-3 overall with the Charleston women at 3-6; results from the Cougars’ meet at Florida A&M on Thursday night were unavailable as of Friday morning.

South Carolina is undefeated in 16 previous meetings with the College of Charleston on both the men’s and women’s sides. Last season, the Gamecocks sent their seniors out in style with a pair of convincing victories in Columbia. The Gamecock women won 156-124 with the last six events contested as exhibitions and the Carolina men took a 159-126 win, swimming exhibition in the last three events.

Saturday’s meet will use an abbreviated 13-event program as the Gamecocks are wrapping up their winter training camp and the Cougars will be coming off their meet with FAMU on Thursday night. It will be the first of four consecutive Saturday meets for the Gamecocks leading up to the SEC Championships in mid-February.

There will be no live results available, but a full recap will follow the meet on GamecocksOnline.com.
