ATLANTA – South Carolina junior diver Allison Barr took home an 11th-place finish in the platform diving final on Sunday to wrap up the Gamecocks’ stay at the NCAA Zone B Diving Regional at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.

Barr, a native of Orlando, Fla., was the Gamecocks’ only competitor in the platform event. She scored 455.00 on her list of 10 dives to finish 11th overall, her second straight year to advance to the platform final and an improvement from a 12th-place showing in 2009. She was the seventh seed in the final after qualifying with a score of 249.80 in preliminaries, then totaled 205.20 in her final five dives.

Southeastern Conference divers swept the top three spots as Alabama’s Carrie Dragland took the title with a 581.85, Florida’s Kara Salamone was second (578.30) and Auburn’s Vennie Dantin was third (560.40).

The meet concludes with junior Taryn Zack earning one of eight invitations to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships by virtue of her third-place finish on the 3-meter springboard Saturday. She and head diving coach Todd Sherritt will head to West Lafayette, Ind., for the meet, which runs Thursday through Saturday at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center at Purdue University.
