University of South Carolina Football will host a weekend Coaching Clinic March 18-20 at the Zone in Williams-Brice Stadium. The clinic is open to all coaches from any level of football interested in learning more about the game, listening to some of the top high school coaches in the state and interacting with head coach Steve Spurrier and the Gamecock coaching staff.

The three-day event kicks off Thursday, March 18 with registration beginning at 6 p.m. Following dinner in the Zone, Gamecocks’ offensive line coach Shawn Elliott will discuss the “Two Back Attack.”

A full schedule of events is set for Friday, March 19. South Carolina native Dal Shealy, who has been involved in organized football for over 40 years as a player, coach and motivator of young athletes, will be the first speaker of the day. Shealy, a former President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is currently the executive director of the FCA Football Coaches Ministry.

A trio of speakers, headlined by former Gamecock great Steve Taneyhill, will then address the crowd before lunch. Taneyhill, who is currently a very successful head coach at Chesterfield High School, will speak on quarterback play in the spread system. Other speakers include Gaffney’s Phil Strickland and Fairfield Central’s Reggie Kennedy.

During the afternoon session, the featured speaker will be Rich Bisaccia, Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

All coaches on hand will then get a first-hand look at the 2010 Gamecocks, as the team will work out on the practice fields Friday afternoon.

Following dinner in the Zone, all attendees will be entertained by a Master Coaches Panel, featuring Palmetto State coaching legends Willie Jeffries, Dave Gutshall, Allen Sitterle, Joe Turbeville and Jimmy Wallace.

On Saturday, the South Carolina Football Strength & Conditioning Staff will demonstrate some weight room tips and techniques. The clinic will wrap up with the Gamecocks’ first scrimmage of the spring at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Those coaches interested in attending the clinic can pre-register for $50 per person prior to 4 p.m. on Thursday. After that, the cost is $60 per person. For more information, please call 803-777-4271 or click on the website at http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/camps/football-camp-information.html
