University of South Carolina offensive tackle Quintin Richardson underwent a successful surgical procedure Tuesday morning to repair a tendon in his left shoulder. The procedure was performed at Palmetto Richland Hospital under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Guy with USC Sports Medicine.

Richardson, a 6-4, 276-pound junior from Columbia’s Spring Valley High School, will be sidelined indefinitely.

Last season, Richardson played in eight games making five starts. He started the first four games at right tackle and was moved to a backup role before regaining his starting assignment in the regular season finale against Clemson. Richardson did not participate in the PapaJohns.com Bowl after undergoing right shoulder surgery in December.

The 2010 Gamecocks will officially report on August 2 and will hold their first practice of fall camp on August 3. Fan Appreciation Day is set for Sunday afternoon, August 15 with the exact time to be announced at a later date.
