South Carolina assistant golf coach Michael Burcin has been appointed as the assistant coach liaison for the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced this week.
Burcin, who is beginning his sixth year with the Gamecock golf program, will serve on the GCAA’s National Advisory Board, which is the governing board of the men’s golf coaches’ assocation. His duties will include arranging activities for the GCAA’s national convention as well as serving as the lone representative of the nation’s assistant coaches to the national board.
Earlier this year, Burcin won the Jan Strickland Award, which is presented to the nation’s top assistant coach. He will be filling the unexpired term of former Northwestern assistant coach Steve Bailey, who was recently named the head coach at Marquette University.
The Gamecocks begin their 2010-11 season Sept. 10-12 at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rocky Face, Ga.
