University of South Carolina offensive center T.J. Johnson has been selected as the Southeastern Conference’s Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the Gamecocks’ 41-13 win over Southern Miss.

Johnson, a 6-4, 302-pound sophomore from Aynor, S.C. was awarded a game ball by the Gamecock coaching staff following the win. He was making his first career start at center after starting all 13 games as a redshirt freshman at right guard during the 2009 season, where he earned Freshman All-SEC accolades.

The Gamecock offensive line allowed Carolina to produce 449 yards of total offense, split almost equally – 224 yards on the ground and 225 yards through the air. Carolina averaged 6.9 yards per play in the win over Southern Miss.

The Gamecocks will return to the practice field tonight at 6:15 p.m. as they continue preparations for Saturday’s noon kickoff against Georgia. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
