The South Carolina football team rocketed up the national polls following Saturday’s 17-6 win over Georgia.
The Gamecocks (2-0, 1-0 SEC) are ranked 13th in this week’s Associated Press poll and 16th in the USA Today/Coaches poll, up 11 and nine spots respectively from their No. 24/25 positions of a week ago. It’s the highest the Gamecocks have been ranked since the 2007 season when they were as high as sixth in the A.P. poll with a 6-1 record. The 2007 season is also the last time the Gamecocks opened with a 2-0 record.
South Carolina will host in-state foe Furman (1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Williams-Brice Stadium. The 7 p.m. kick will be televised throughout the Palmetto State on a pay-per-view basis. Tickets remain for the contest for $35.
