COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina ran its fall record to 5-0 after taking four wins from the group of Florida State College of Jacksonville, Charlotte and Lander on Friday and Saturday at Beckham Field.

The Gamecocks pounded out 19 hits in a 14-4 win over Florida State College of Jacksonville in the first game on Friday. Six Gamecocks had multi-hit games, led by three-hit outings from senior Laura Mendes and freshman Sarah Eidt. Eidt, freshman Julie Sarratt and junior Evan Childs all drove in three runs in the game that included two five-run innings for South Carolina.

South Carolina used an eight-run fourth to down Charlotte, 13-0, in five innings. Junior Lauren Lackey and sophomore Hannah Milks both drove in three runs and scored two, while Milks went 4-for-4 at the plate. The Gamecocks pitchers combined on a three-hitter over the 49ers.

A nine-run fourth brought a halt to the first game of the doubleheader against Lander, as South Carolina claimed a 14-0 win. The Bearcat offense went hitless through 4 1/3 innings, as sophomore Kierstyn White went three without giving up a runner. Mendes went 3-for-3 with three RBI, while sophomore Kaitlin Westfall hit a two-run homer. Lackey scored three runs while reaching base all four times at the plate.

Sophomore Samie Garcia tied the game in the seventh with a two-run triple, while Milks pushed across the winning run with a single to give South Carolina a 7-3 win over Lander in the last game of the weekend on Saturday. Senior P.J. Fulmer went 2-for-4 with an RBI as well, while White closed out the game, allowing one hit in three innings of work.

The Gamecocks face USC Aiken in a doubleheader on Friday, Oct. 8, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT.
