The No. 22 South Carolina Gamecocks (6-3, 4-3 SEC) practiced Wednesday afternoon at the Bluff Road practice fields, as they continued preparations for Saturday’s SEC showdown at No. 24 Florida (6-3, 4-3 SEC).
Wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. knows that his group will have its hands full on Saturday with the Florida secondary. “They’re very good,” noted Spurrier Jr. “We watched them play Georgia and Alabama today. They’re competitive, they get up on you, they grab you and they’re not afraid to play. It’s a good challenge for our guys. We know its going to be an every-down solid match up and we’ve got to go play every down. They play physical. You have to get separation from them and go and make plays.
“Every game in the SEC is a big game,” continued Spurrier Jr. “Obviously, we know what we’re playing for and this game is a little bigger than others. But we’re all excited to go play.”
The winner of the South Carolina – Florida game will represent the SEC Eastern Division in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta on Saturday, December 4. Saturday’s 7:21 p.m. kick will be televised nationally on ESPN with Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge working in the both and Holly Rowe on the sidelines.
The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields on Thursday afternoon.
