Two members of the South Carolina Gamecocks football team have earned postseason recognition from Phil Steele Publications, it was announced today.

Sophomore wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been named to the first-team All-America squad, while running back Marcus Lattimore was named to Steele’s fourth-team All-America squad, was a first-team selection on the All-Freshman squad and was selected as the Offensive Freshman of the Year.

Jeffery, a 6-4, 233-pounder from St. Matthews, S.C., set South Carolina school records in both receptions (79) and receiving yards in a season (1,387). He was one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s top receiver and has been a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection. He was a first-team All-American according to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and was a second team selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF) and the Associated Press.

Lattimore, a six-foot, 218-pounder from Duncan, S.C., logged 1,198 yards rushing and has scored 19 touchdowns in 12 games. Lattimore has been named National Freshman of the Year by CBSSportsline.com, Rivals.com and CollegeFootballNews.com; was a second team Walter Camp All-American; earned first team All-SEC honors; and has been a unanimous choice as SEC Freshman of the Year.
