COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s men’s swimming & diving team moved up one spot to No. 23 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll, which was released Thursday.

The Gamecocks (3-0) were ranked 24th in the season’s initial poll in November, marking the first time Carolina had entered the national rankings since the 2001-02 season. South Carolina is tied with SEC foe LSU in this week’s poll for the No. 23 spot. The Carolina women are also receiving votes in their poll.

Seven of the eight SEC men’s teams are ranked, led by No. 5 Florida and No. 6 Auburn. Georgia comes in at No. 11, followed by No. 15 Tennessee and No. 17 Alabama. On the women’s side, No. 2 Georgia leads the way along with No. 6 Florida and No. 10 Auburn. Tennessee is ranked 12th, while LSU is 22nd and Arkansas is 24th.

Carolina’s divers will begin the new year at the Tennessee Diving Invitational Jan. 3-5 in Knoxville, and the full squad resumes action Jan. 7 with a home meet against Kentucky and College of Charleston.
