COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior Wesley Bryan and freshman Logan Harrell will compete in the prestigious Jones Cup Invitational this weekend at Ocean Forest Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. The Jones Cup Invitational is a 54-hole stroke-play event whose field consists of some of the world’s top amateur golfers.

Harrell has played in all four tournaments thus far in the 2010-11 season for South Carolina, posting a 76.17 scoring average. His best finish in the fall season came at the Mason Rudolph Championship, where he tied for 17th place. Harrell, a native of Huntersville, N.C., was the 2009 North Carolina Junior Player of the Year and won the 2010 Carolinas Amateur Championship.

Bryan, a native of Chapin, S.C., is ranked No. 47 in the latest Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking. He also competed in all four tournaments in the fall season, highlighted by a tie for 29th place at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Bryan had a very strong summer season in 2010, grabbing runner-up honors at the Southeastern Amateur and the South Carolina State Amateur Championship. He also qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship, missing the cut for match play by one stroke.

The 2011 Jones Cup gets underway Friday morning. Harrell will be in the first group off the No. 10 tee, paired with Georgia Tech freshman Anders Albertson and Furman senior Austin Reeves in the 9:10 a.m. pairing. Bryan will start on the No. 1 tee at 10:20 a.m., paired with Texas signee Jordan Speith and Texas A&M sophomore Cameron Peck.
