COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior diver Taryn Zack has been named this week’s AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Zack captured her second Southeastern Conference championship on Saturday evening as she won the SEC 1-meter title in Gainesville, Fla. She set the SEC Championships record on the 1-meter board with a score of 336.55, breaking a four-year-old record previously held by Kentucky’s Taryn Ignacio. With her victory, she also becomes the SEC’s first repeat winner on the 1-meter board since Ignacio did it in 2005 and 2007; Zack previously won the 1-meter title in 2009.

The native of Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada, also took home a fifth-place finish in 3-meter diving, scoring a 346.75 in the final to post her second-best score of the season. Zack wraps up four years of competing at the SEC Championships having never missed a final on either the 1- or 3-meter board, finishing in fifth place or better each time. She accounted for 34 individual points toward the Gamecocks’ team total, which carries over to the swimming championships that begin later this week.
