South Carolina Head Coach Ray Tanner
Opening Statement
I really felt the difference in the game tonight, we battled to the end, But Alex Wood was very good. He was special tonight. He was able to move that fastball around tonight. He didn’t throw a lot of off-speed pitches, but a few. He had pretty good velocity. He located some and did a nice job and kept us at bay and, that being said, we kept battling back. Obviously, it was a poor defensive night for us. I think you can give all the credit in the world to Wood, he put them in a position to win.

On errors…
Sometimes you turn a double play after an error and you feel pretty good. We hung in there. We didn’t play as well as you would like to, of course. Not to take anything away from [Alex Wood] and Georgia and the job that they did. They scored right out of the box. We would have liked to have done better but we didn’t and they deserve all the credit tonight.

On Peter Mooney struggling…
Keep putting him in the line up. You keep playing him. You have two options: sit him down or play him. He is fighting it a little bit, but he is going to play. He has to play his way out of it. He is a good player to be scuffling as much as he is right now. So he has to play his way out. I’m not going to sit him down.

On losing Friday night games…
You play 30 in the league and that’s just one you have to forget about and come back and play. We didn’t play our best game. Georgia pitched really well and they deserved to win. You have to forget about it and come back and play tomorrow. This is a league where you punch each other. And very rarely do you see a team win 23, 24, 25 games in this league. You’re going to lose some games. But you have to fight like the `dickens’ and win your share. That’s what we are going to try to do tomorrow.

Michael Roth, Pitcher
On the loss…
It hurts to lose tonight but it isn’t the end of the weekend. We just have to shake off tonight and come back and play tomorrow.

Christian Walker, First baseman
On the triple…
I was just running with my head down and heard the crowd get louder and took a peak back over my right shoulder and saw the ball bounce back in. So I wasn’t sure if they were cheering for the double or what.

Adrian Morales, Third baseman
On the loss…
We just have to make better plays and help our pitching staff out. They did a great job today and we didn’t help them.
