COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eight teams participated Wednesday afternoon at the Gamecock Open Meet at the Weems Baskin Track on the campus of the University of South Carolina, and the Gamecock track athletes put together top finishes in the final home meet of the 2011 season.

The Gamecock women earned wins in the 1500-meter run and every field event that they had participants in while the Gamecock men earned wins in the 5000-meter run, both relays, the triple jump, discus throw and the pole vault. On the women’s side, sophomore Jessica Hartman earned the track win with a time of 4:55.12 in the 1500-meter run.

Ceci Kryst and Kayla Blake earned wins in the jump with Kryst winning the long jump at 18’6 ½ (5.65m) and Blake winning the high jump at 5’3 (1.60m). Junior Allison Nicosia won the pole vault at 12’1 ½ (3.70m), a mark that is nine inches higher than her previous outdoor season high this year. Freshman Angie Rummans also cleared the mark to place second, and Tylar Mangan took third overall.

In the final open event for a Gamecock women’s athlete, senior Aimee Kodat earned her third victory of the season in the discus throw with a mark of 143-03 (43.67m).

The 20th-ranked Gamecock men’s team swept the relays with victories in the 4x100m relay (42.99) and the 4x400m relay (3:22.97). Sophomore Vince DePiano won the 5000-meter run at 16:01.29.
