COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Athletics invites fans to Colonial Life Arena to celebrate the 2011 National Champion Gamecock baseball team on Wed., June 29. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and the team is scheduled to arrive at the arena at 5:30 p.m.
A replay of the championship game will be played on the scoreboard, and concession stands will be open. Championship merchandise will also be available for purchase. Parking for the event is free and will be on a first-come, first-served basis in all surface lots at Colonial Life Arena and the Discovery Garage.
The program will include a highlight package of the championship run, introductions of players and coaches and remarks from various governmental, University and department of athletics officials in addition to head coach Ray Tanner and selected players. There will be a sign language interpreter available on stage at the event.
Local law enforcement has requested that fans wanting to celebrate the championship do not go to the airport to meet the team’s flight due to Transportation Security Administration regulations in that area.
