COLUMBIA, S.C. – In addition to success in the pool, South Carolina’s swimming and diving team is performing exceptionally well in the classroom. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named both the men’s and women’s teams among the top 20 in the country for team grade point average (GPA). The men’s team finished 16th with a team GPA of 3.24, while the women finished ninth with a 3.52. Both of which were tops among the Southeastern Conference. Head swimming coach McGee Moody had this to say about the accomplishment.

“We are very pleased with our athletes progress and determination in the classroom. We demand a lot of our athletes in the pool and equally as much, if not more, in the classroom. The kind of discipline they are displaying in the academic setting will carry over and insure our future success in the pool. Our athletic department’s academic success is a direct reflection of the job that Raymond Harrison and his staff are doing over at The Dodie Academic Enrichment Center. We are very fortunate to have such a passionate academic staff here at South Carolina.”
