COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina swimming and diving team took a break from preseason practice on Saturday to give back to the Columbia community.

The team participated in a roadside cleanup. The Gamecocks split into groups to complete the community service project as they picked up trash from Bluff Road to Rosewood Drive to Devine.

South Carolina will return to practice on Monday and will open its 2011-12 season on Oct. 15 at Florida State.
