Sept. 18, 2011

The University of South Carolina football squad moved slightly in both national polls released today. The Gamecocks moved up one notch in the USA Today/Coaches poll from 11th to 10th, but fell two spots in the Associated Press poll from 10th to 12th.

The Gamecocks (3-0, 1-0 SEC) are coming off a hard-fought 24-21 win over Navy in the home opener Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. It was the second-straight three-point win for Carolina and also the second straight game in which it trailed in the fourth quarter but rallied for the victory.

The Gamecocks will return to SEC action on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they host the undefeated Vanderbilt Commodores (3-0, 1-0 SEC) in an Eastern Division showdown. The `Dores are coming off an impressive 30-7 win over Ole Miss. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and the contest will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

The Gamecocks are off today (Sunday) and will return to the practice fields on Monday night at 7 p.m.
