EVANSTON, Ill.Jaklin Alawi and Adriana Pereira from the South Carolina women’s tennis team posted victories on the final day of competition at the Wildcat Invitational on Sunday in Evanston, Ill.

Alawi beat Whitney Ritchie of Oklahoma 6-2, 6-3 to finish the tournament with a 3-0 record in singles and a 3-1 mark for doubles with Dominika Kanakova. Alawi competed in the A flight in Evanston and sits at 8-1 for the season in singles.

In flight C, Pereira upended Aria Lambert from Minnesota 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to also finish the weekend undefeated at 3-0. Like Alawi, Pereira is off to an 8-1 start in singles play this fall through three tournaments.

Katerina Popova lost a consolation match in flight A to DePaul’s Kelsey Lawson 6-4, 6-2, and Josefin Andersson also lost in the consolation draw of flight B to Mia Lancaster of Oklahoma 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Kanakova lost in the semis of flight B to Nicole Long from OU 6-4, 6-0, and Dina Guzairova suffered her first lost of the fall with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) setback to Minnesota’s Doron Muravnik.

Gamecock seniors Dijana Stojic and Anya Morgina will represent South Carolina in the Gamecocks’ next tournament, the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., starting Tuesday.
