COLUMBIA, S.C. – The first of a three-part challenge series will take place this Saturday when The Frye Foundation hosts the “5K Run/Walk Challenge Series For a Healthy America” presented by Gatorade.
Join Coach Curtis Frye and Gatorade in assisting in The Frye Foundation’s mission to create a healthy America by bringing awareness to the importance of hydration to high school athletes as well as those affected by heat-related illnesses exacerbated by diabetes, obesity and sickle cell anemia. The first in a three-part challenge series of 5K Run/Walks will take place Saturday, Oct. 8 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Saturday’s race is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. at 1100 S. Holly Street, located by Memorial Stadium and the track complex at Owens Field. More information can be found at www.TheFryeFoundation.org.
Funds raised during the series have a multi-purpose designation: Scholarship support for two students – one at Midlands Technical College and one at Sandhills Community College – who are majoring in a health-related career field; and diabetic pumps and supplies for those in need in the Carolina.
