COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina freshman midfielder Braeden Troyer has been named a CollegeSoccerNews.com Third Team All-Freshman selection. It was announced this week.

Troyer quickly emerged as a force in the Gamecock midfield during his freshman campaign. The Columbia, S.C., native started all 19 matches for the squad, and contributed five goals, which ranked second on the team. He also added two game winners this fall, the first against Marshall followed by the winner on the road at FIU. Troyer tallied eight shots on frame in 2011, with five of those resulting in goals.

Troyer was also named to the All-Conference USA Third Team and All-Freshman squad last month. Troyer’s selection marks the second year in a row the Gamecocks have had a CollegeSoccerNews.com selection, as Bradlee Baladez was named to the squad in 2010.
