BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — South Carolina sophomore Taylor Josserand has been named to the 2012 SEC Women’s Swimming and Diving Community Service Team, the league announced Monday.

Josserand, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., has volunteered to give back to the community in more ways than one during her Gamecock career. She has been a guest speaker at Heyward Elementary School. Josserand prepared and delivered baked goods to local fire stations during a 9/11 Appreciation Day in the fall. She volunteered with other student-athletes for the Boo at the Zoo event for children at Riverside Zoo. She worked at an orphanage in Haiti for a week for Hope for Haiti. She is also an AWANA children’s ministry leader at Shandon Baptist Church.

Josserand, who competes in the sprint/middle distance freestyle, is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the National Collegiate Honor Society.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
