Head Coach Ray Tanner

On today’s game overall…
“Today was game where we played really well. We got a quality start out of (Jordan) Montgomery, and we knew they were going to make a run. They did and we are fortunate that we pushed across a couple of runs late. Then we got to Matt Price and he was able to shut it down for us.”

On Jordan Montgomery
“Montgomery was not able to go to his changeup today as much as he would have liked. He threw a few and a couple of good ones, but not enough. He had to locate some fastballs, but he got his breaking ball over. He surprised them a little bit with his breaking ball. I think Jordan has a chance, as he gets a little bit older, to throw a little bit harder. At times he can get up to 87-88 mph and maybe he will have a little more life down the road. He has done a nice job for us. I’m really proud of what he has been able to do, and he has put us in a position to win games. That’s a strong statement.”

On keeping batters off balance…
“I just try to go out there and throw all four of my pitches for strikes and today I only had three of them, so I worked off of those and just tried to hit the glove whenever I could.”

LB Dantzler

On third straight series the team has won…
“I would say we are bringing it together. We are definitely not a finished product, but we are kind of starting to figure it out. We had a lot of new guys at the beginning of the year, and we are getting some games under our belts. Hopefully we can keep going. We have a big game tomorrow so we need to come out and keep the same energy and intensity.”

On hitting behind Christian Walker
“It not a secret that I haven been hitting as well as I have wanted to. I’ve just been trying to battle and stay positive and if there are runners on base just do the best o can to drive them in.”

On two-out hits…
“Everyone is seeing the ball. We are really working on our two-strike approach with Coach Holbrook, and that’s helping us see the ball late and see it deep and try to get it in play and try to make a play.”

On winning this series…
“I think a big part of it is everyone is trying to stay positive and have fun. If you don’t have a good game, (our) team is going to be there to back you up. When you are going out there and just playing baseball that’s a big thing that will help.”
