MONTREAL — South Carolina freshman Cole Miller gained valuable experience on Sunday as he competed at the 2012 Canadian Olympic Diving Trials at the Olympic Park Sports Center in Montreal.

Miller, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, finished 19th in the three-meter springboard competition with a score of 281.45. He earned his way to the trials with an eighth-place finish at the Canadian Winter Nationals in December.

Miller had a successful freshman campaign for the Gamecocks as he was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. He qualified for the finals at the SEC Championships in both the three-meter springboard and platform competitions, finishing sixth and fifth, respectively. He also set the 12-dive school record on the platform at the NCAA Zone B Championships with a score of 609.25.
