LONDONJason Richardson is the second former Gamecock in as many days to earn a berth to his events final day of competition after advancing in the first round of the men’s 110-meter hurdles Tuesday in London.

Richardson won his heat at 13.33 with the sixth-fastest time of the day, staying conservative throughout his race in preparation for a double race day on Wednesday. The semifinal will be run Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. (ET), and the final is scheduled just two hours later at 4:15 p.m. (ET).

“The race went well,” Richardson said. “I executed what I was told to do – get out well, go till about 60 meters, 50 meters and protect my energy for tomorrow.”

Richardson and Lashinda Demus will both go for gold Wednesday in hopes of bringing the former Gamecock Olympic medal count up to 13. South Carolina affiliated athletes have won 11 total medals at the Olympic Games since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
