COLUMBIA, S.C. — Redshirt sophomore quarterback Dylan Thompson from the Gamecock football team as been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

The redshirt sophomore made his first career start in place of the injured Connor Shaw and responded by completing 21-of-37 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in Carolina’s 48-10 win over East Carolina. Thompson threw touchdown passes of 7, 29 and 30 yards in the contest and also had a career-long 53-yard completion. He also carried nine times for 17 yards. The 330 yards passing was the most for a Carolina quarterback in his first start since Blake Mitchell threw for 330 to open the 2005 season against UCF. Thompson came into the game with just two completions in five attempts for 17 yards in his career.
