The University of South Carolina football team remained eighth in the latest BCS Standings released Sunday night. They are 12th in the latest Associated Press poll and 11th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll, released earlier on Sunday. The Gamecocks held steady in the coaches’ poll while dropping one notch in the AP rankings this week.
The Gamecocks (7-2, 5-2 SEC) enjoyed their bye week this past week. They will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 10, when they host the Arkansas Razorbacks (4-5, 2-3 SEC) in the final SEC game of the season for Carolina. The noon kick at Williams-Brice Stadium will be televised nationally on CBS with Tim Brando and Steve Beuerlein calling the action and Marty Snider working the sidelines.
Alabama (9-0) continues to receive every first-place vote in both polls. Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame are all undefeated and ranked 2-3-4 in both polls. Georgia (fifth), Florida (seventh) and LSU (ninth) are the other SEC teams that rank ahead of the Gamecocks.
During Sunday’s teleconference, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier confirmed that junior running back Marcus Lattimore underwent right knee surgery on Friday in Birmingham, Ala. Lattimore has returned to Columbia where he is resting comfortably, according to the Head Ball Coach.
