INDIANAPOLIS — The South Carolina men’s swimming and diving team swam two events during Friday morning’s preliminaries at the 2013 NCAA Championships at IU Natatorium.

In his second individual event of the week, junior Michael Flach swam a time of 1:36.67 to finish 39th in the 200 freestyle. It took a time of 1:34.66 to make the consolation final in the event and a time of 1:33.88 to advance to the championships final.

The Gamecocks delivered a solid swim in the 200 medley relay to begin the morning. The team of Jay Warner, Gerard Rodriguez, Flach and Alex Fitton finished 24th overall with a time of 1:27.94, which is the second fastest time in school history.

South Carolina will be back in action at tonight’s finals in the 800 freestyle relay. The Gamecocks enter the event as the No. 19 seed with a time of 6:23.99 and will swim in lane six of heat two.
