Schedule and Results | Frye Penn Relays Press Conference

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Track and field team travels north to Philadelphia for the 119th running of the Penn Relays. All of the action for the oldest of the relay meets takes place at Franklin Field Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Over the three-day event, nearly 430 races are scheduled. Teams from 35 states are entered and more than 10 nations will be sending collegiate and high school teams to the event.

Six SEC schools join the Gamecocks at Franklin Field – Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Texas A&M. The women’s team enters the weekend as one of seven SEC schools ranked in the USTFCCCA top 25. No. 25 South Carolina broke into the rankings for the first time since 2010.

This weekend’s competition is the final regular season contest of the year for South Carolina. After taking next weekend off, the Gamecocks hit the road to Columbia, Mo., for the 2013 SEC Outdoor Championships on May 9-12.

Saturday TV Coverage
NBC will showcase the USA vs. The World series from 1-3 p.m. EST. Several Gamecock relays are scheduled during the time frame. Coverage will continue on NBC Universal from 3-5 p.m. to round out four complete hours of live coverage from Franklin Field.

East Regional Watch
As the Gamecocks travel to Penn Relays, their last regular season meet before the Southeastern Conference Championships in Columbia, Mo., on May 9-12, South Carolina athletes are jockeying for position to be included in the NCAA East Region field (May 23-25, Greensboro, N.C.). The regional offers the chance to punch a ticket the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 5-8, Eugene, Ore.).

For the fourth-straight season, the country has been split into two regions – East and West – with the top 48 athletes (24 relays) in each region qualifying for the Preliminary Round. The top 12 finishers in an event at each regional preliminary will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
