The first three University of South Carolina football games during the 2013 season will be televised nationally on one of the ESPN networks, it was announced today.
As previously announced, the Gamecocks will open the 2013 college football season on Thursday, August 29, when they host the North Carolina Tar Heels. Game time is set for 6 p.m. ET at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia and the game will be televised on ESPN. South Carolina has won four of the last five contests with UNC, including a 21-15 win in Chapel Hill in 2007, the last time the two schools meet on the gridiron.
The Gamecocks’ SEC opener is set for Saturday, September 7, when Carolina travels to Georgia to face the Bulldogs. That game will also be televised by ESPN, with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. ET. The Gamecocks have defeated Georgia in each of the last three meetings, the longest Carolina winning streak in the series that dates back to 1894.
South Carolina will return home on Saturday, September 14 to host Vanderbilt. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. Other games sharing that same time slot and stations are Mississippi State at Auburn and Kent State at LSU. The Gamecocks have won each of the last four meetings with the Commodores.
The Gamecocks had 10 of their 13 games in 2012 televised nationally, including six on ESPN.
