WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Meghan Blevins and Ximena Siles Luna from the South Carolina women’s tennis team won their respective doubles flight Saturday at the Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
Blevins and Siles Luna defeated Liang and He from Harvard in the finals of the Michelle O Doubles Flight to finish with a 3-0 record on the weekend. Blevins also advanced to the finals of her singles flight with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 triumph over No. 58 Stephanie Nauta of Virginia, while Siles Luna did the same with a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Kimmy Guerin of Wake Forest.
Freshmen Brigit Folland and Caroline Dailey each advanced to the finals of their singles draws as well. Folland was a 6-4, 6-3 winner versus Wake Forest’s Luisa Fernandez, and Dailey needed three sets to defeat Emma Devine from Oklahoma 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.
Katerina Popova and Dominika Kanakova each registered victories in the singles backdraws of their flights. Elixane Lechemia picked up a win in doubles with Dailey playing in the third-place doubles match of the Katrin Guenther Doubles Flight. Alex Martin and Katie Fosnacht picked up a win in doubles as well.
The Gamecocks wrap up their first tournament on Sunday morning with Blevins, Dailey, Folland and Siles Luna all looking to capture singles titles in their respective flights.
