Our Journey Inside the Vault looks back to October 5, 1991 and Brandon Bennett’s record-setting day as a freshman tailback. Our Inside Look at the University features the breaking of the color barrier at the University of South Carolina.

“The theme for Homecoming 1991 was, “Simply the Best.” On October 5, 1991, freshman tailback Brandon Bennett proved to East Tennessee State that he was the best. In one of the top individual performances in school history, Bennett carried 31 times for a school-record 278 yards with three touchdowns including an 89-yard score from scrimmage as South Carolina defeated the Buccaneers 55-7 at Williams-Brice Stadium.”
