The University of South Carolina Athletics Department is reminding all fans planning on attending Saturday’s football game between the Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers to “let the buyer beware” when purchasing tickets from scalpers either online or outside Williams-Brice Stadium.

Each year the athletics department has received several incident reports of people purchasing football game tickets that have already gone through the scanning process at the entry gates, rendering the ticket useless. In addition, a number of counterfeit tickets are sold for high-profile games each year. If there is any question about the validity of the ticket, please bring it to the Gamecock Athletics Ticket Office, located at Gate 26 on the north side of the stadium.

Fans should also be aware of potential counterfeit merchandise being sold around the stadium. All officially licensed merchandise should display the “Officially Licensed Collegiate Product” hologram somewhere on the product or hangtag. Royalties generated from the sale of officially licensed collegiate products go back to the respective Universities to support student scholarships and enhance various initiatives on campus.

Saturday’s top-10 matchup pits the Gamecocks (9-2, 6-2 SEC) against the Tigers (10-1, 7-1 ACC) at a sold out Williams-Brice Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with Mark Jones and Brock Huard in the booth and Jessica Mendoza on the sidelines.
