Women's Track and Field 15th in Week #1 USTFCCCA Rankings

Jan. 28, 2014

NEW ORLEANS –
The South Carolina women’s track and field team is ranked 15th in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings released on Monday.

In the USTFCCCA preseason rankings, the women’s squad was 11th.

The SEC leads the way with eight conference members in the top 25. The Gamecocks along with the seven other league representatives sit in the top 16.

The national team rankings are complied by mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons. For the preseason ranking and early-season rankings, data will be taken from previous seasons as well as the current season.

The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.

South Carolina travels to Winston Salem, N.C., this weekend for the Hilton Garden Invitational at the JDL Fast Track.
