Woodruff Finishes Tied for Third at Savannah Quarters Intercollegiate

POOLER, Ga. — South Carolina junior Blaine Woodruff finished tied for third in the Savannah Quarters Intercollegiate on Monday at Savannah Quarters Country Club.

A native of Acworth, Ga., Woodruff carded rounds of 76 (+4) and 71 (-1) to finish with a total of 147 (+3) at the event, which was shortened to 36 holes with inclement weather moving into the area on Tuesday. Woodruff wrapped up the day four shots back of Chattanooga’s Wes Gosselin, who won the event with a total of 143 (-1).

Freshman Ben Dietrich carded rounds of 76 (+4) and 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for seventh place at 5-over. Senior Alan King posted a tie for 19th finish in his second career appearance for the Gamecocks after shooting rounds of 79 (+7) and 75 (+3), while freshman Kieron Fowler finished tied for 32nd with a total of 159 (+15), turning in rounds of 73 (+1) and 86 (+14).

The Gamecocks will open their spring season on Feb. 21-23 at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship. The 54-hole event will be held at Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas.
