COLUMBIA, S.C. – This weekend, the Gamecock track and field team travels to the South Carolina coast for the Shamrock Invitational. The meet at Coastal Carolina’s Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium runs from Thursday until Saturday.

The lone Gamecock event of the day on Thursday is the men’s hammer throw at 11 a.m. With a full contingent scheduled to make the trip, the following days are full of South Carolina athletes with Friday’s action beginning at 10:00 a.m., and Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

South Carolina returns seven individual NCAA outdoor qualifiers from last year’s squad and all four members of the women’s 4×100-meter relay who earned a bid to Eugene, Ore.

Last Time Out
The Gamecocks wrapped up the 2014 indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. Senior high jumper Jeannelle Scheper captured her second-consecutive NCAA Indoor silver medal. The women’s 4×400-meter relay squad of freshmen Precious Holmes, Briana Haith and Marisa Bellamy along with sophomore Tyler Brockington earned a spot on the podium with their seventh-place finish. The team saved their best for last, running the fastest time of the season at the NCAA event at 3:33.95. Sophomore Sarah Graham made her NCAA debut in Albuquerque after earning a bid in the pentathlon. Graham’s strong performance yielded a total of 3,968 points and a 16th-place finish.

The performances propelled the Gamecocks to a 19th-place finish in the women’s ranks. All six athletes earned All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their efforts.
