Former Gamecock Football Coach Dale Evans Dies

Former University of South Carolina assistant football coach Dale Evans passed away on Wednesday. He was 77-years old.
A native of Pierce, W.Va., and graduate of West Virginia University, Evans served on the staff at South Carolina from 1975-1981, working under head coach Jim Carlen. He also coached at the collegiate level at North Carolina, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Colorado and Salem College.
More recently Evans served as coach and athletics director at Dorman High School in Spartanburg, S.C. He retired in 2004 and was currently serving his third term on the Spartanburg School District 6 Board of Trustees. He was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Hall of Fame in 2012.
