Cann and Davis Named to Steele's Preseason All-America Teams

University of South Carolina offensive guard A.J. Cann and running back Mike Davis were named preseason All-Americans, while ten Gamecocks received mention on the 2014 preseason All-SEC teams, according to Phil Steele’s 2014 College Football Preview.

Cann, a 6-4, 311-pound offensive guard from Bamberg, S.C., was named to Steele’s first-team All-America and first-team All-SEC squads. A team captain and leader of the offensive line, Cann owns a team-high 38 starts over the past three seasons.

Davis, a 5-9, 223-pound junior from Atlanta, earned a spot on Steele’s third-team All-America squad and was a second-team All-SEC selection. He was a second-team All-SEC pick last season after rushing 203 times for 1,183 yards (the fourth-highest single-season total in school history), with 11 touchdowns.

Joining Davis on the second-team All-SEC unit were junior offensive tackle Brandon Shell (6-6, 333) and senior Spur Sharrod Golightly (5-10, 187).

Three Gamecocks were named to Steele’s third-team All-SEC squad, including senior offensive tackle Corey Robinson (6-8, 344), senior defensive tackle J.T. Surratt (6-2, 310) and sophomore placekicker Elliott Fry (6-0, 165).

Additionally, three Gamecocks garnered a spot on Steele’s fourth-team All-SEC unit. Those mentioned include junior wide receiver Shaq Roland (6-1, 176), sophomore linebacker Skai Moore (6-2, 213) and senior safety Brison Williams (5-11, 208).
