In a display of youth, four of the Gamecocks’ six individual entrants (Jussi Kanervo – Fr., Kaleb Zuidema – R-Fr., Ahtyana Johnson – So., Tyler Brockington – So.) are underclassmen. There are two more sophomores on the men’s 4×100-meter relay in Kendall Kee and Brandon Sanders. In the women’s relays, Johnson and Brockington are joined by sophomore Alexis Murphy and freshmen Marisa Bellamy and Briana Haith.

Four South Carolina bids enter the championships with a top-10 seed. The men’s 4×100-meter relay of Kendall Kee, Royster, Eric Winfrey and Brandon Sanders own the No. 3 seed after their 38.98 Prelims, the No. 3 time in school history. The women’s 4×1 is the No. 8 team at this week’s event with Brockington, Tamera Harris, Ahtyana Johnson and Alexis Murphy combining for a season-best 44.20 at Prelims. In the women’s 400-meter hurdles, Brockington enters as the No. 9 seed. School record holder Olsen is the No. 10 seed in the women’s pole vault.
