COLUMBIA, S.C. – Several Gamecocks are participating in summer baseball leagues throughout the United States. Here are some highlights from some of the players from last week that are playing through July 23, 2014.

Gene Cone (Florence Redwolves – Coastal Plain League)
Cone is among the leading hitters in the Coastal Plain League with a .368 average (46-for-125) with 29 runs scored and 17 RBI. He leads the CPL with 15 doubles on the year and has two triples as well. He has 18 walks to 14 strikeouts and owns a .451 on-base percentage. His .520 slugging percentage is third-best in the league as well.

Vince Fiori (Cotuit Kettleers – Cape Cod League)
Fiori hurled his top game of the summer with seven scoreless innings of work in a 3-0 win over Brewster on July 21. He limited Brewster to just five hits with one walk and struck out four batters to earn the victory.

Jordan Gore (Florence Redwolves – Coastal Plain League)
Gore is hitting .252 (26-for-103) with 10 runs scored and 14 RBI and played alongside Cone in the 2014 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game.

Tyler Haswell (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Improved to 3-3 with a victory in his last start on July 18 vs. Florence. He limited the Redwolves to three runs on four hits in seven innings of work on the way to a 6-3 win.

Logan Koch (Plymouth Pilgrims – New England Collegiate Baseball League)
Koch is batting .284 (19-for-67) with six runs scored and seven RBI in 21 games played with the Pilgrims this summer. He has 22 walks to 18 strikeouts. Koch played in the 2014 NECBL All-Star game on July 20.

Kyle Martin (Columbia Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Since joining the Blowfish for the second half of the CPL season, Martin is hitting .300 (9-for-30) with a run scored and five RBI. He has played and started in seven games.

Weber Pike (Aldie Senators – Valley League)
Pike recently joined the Senators and is their top hitter since joining the tema. He is hitting .389 (14-for-36) with three runs scored, a pair of doubles and four RBI. He also has two stolen bases. Pike was an honorable mention Player of the Week selection as well on Tuesday, July 22.

Josh Reagan (Columbia Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Reagan won his fourth straight start with seven scoreless innings allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out seven batters in a 10-2 win over Wilson. Reagan is 4-1 with a 1.83 ERA in 39.1 innings, opponents are hitting .190 against him.

Matthew Vogel (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Vogel followed up Haswell with one perfect inning of relief with three strikeouts in Wilmington’s 6-3 win over Florence on July 18.
