Two University of South Carolina football players earned recognition on USA Today’s 2014 preseason All-America teams.

Senior offensive guard A.J. Cann was named to USA Today’s preseason first-team unit. Cann, a 6-4, 311-pounder from Bamberg, S.C., has started 38 games over the past three seasons.

Junior running back Mike Davis a spot on USA Today’s preseason second-team squad. Davis, a 5-9, 223-pounder from Atlanta, Ga., rushed for 1,183 yards as a sophomore, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history.

Earlier the week, the pair was named to SI.com’s All-America squads, with Cann earning first team recognition and Davis garnering second team honors.

Cann, Davis and the rest of the Gamecocks will open the 2014 season on Thursday, August 28, when they host SEC foe Texas A&M at Williams-Brice Stadium. Game time is set for 6 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.
