The South Carolina Gamecock football team continued its preseason workouts at the Bluff Road “Proving Grounds” on Friday morning.

Special teams coach Joe Robinson is pleased with the performance of his unit thus far in camp. “They’re doing really well,” said Robinson of his special team performers. “We haven’t really had to make any final decisions yet, but (placekicker) Elliott (Fry) started out in camp in the place he was last year. He’s performed very well. He’s worked on his consistency. (Return specialist) Pharoh (Cooper) has done some great things. We know what he can do. (Punter) Tyler Hull has had a really good camp too,” continued Robinson. “He’s made some adjustments and hopefully that will pay off for him because he’s worked very hard. We’re pleased with all of them.”

Robinson indicated there are several options for the kickoff duties, with incumbent Landon Ard, being challenged by Fry and newcomer Zack Cimaglia. “You’d like if you can to try to spread the load around a little bit,” said Robinson. “They’re all three working at it, but Landon has had a really good camp.”

Following practice, the Gamecocks were treated to their annual watermelon feed, provided by the South Carolina Watermelon Association.

The Gamecocks will head into Williams-Brice Stadium for a scrimmage on Saturday morning. The closed practice is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
